A Nigerian scholar, Abdul Qadir Mohammad Bello, has emphasized that the holy month of Ramadan presents a “golden” opportunity for Muslims to engage with the Quran.
Speaking at a seminar titled “The Islamic Identity from the
Quran’s Perspective,” Bello asserted that the roots of Islamic identity are
deeply embedded in the pure teachings of the Quran. The seminar was a part of
the ongoing 31st International Holy Quran Fair at Tehran’s Mosalla.
Bello referred to verse 185 of Surah Al-Baqarah, where God
proclaims that the Quran was revealed during this sacred month to guide
humanity and distinguish between truth and falsehood. He noted that while some
verses of the Quran bring good news to believers and Muslims, this particular
verse emphasizes its role as a universal guide for all people.
Bello further highlighted the significance of Ramadan, often
dubbed as the ‘springtime of the Quran.’ He stated, “The sacred month of
Ramadan offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse oneself in Quranic
teachings and ponder over its wisdom. The conducive environment during this
period facilitates reading, understanding, and reflecting on the verses.”
He added, “Indeed, Ramadan is a golden opportunity to recite
the Quran, comprehend its meanings, and most importantly, implement its
teachings in our lives. Reading the Quran and reflecting upon it are crucial
steps towards living by its principles.”
The 31st International Holy Quran Fair, which commenced at
Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla on March 20, invites visitors on a spiritual and
cultural journey that coincides with the Nowruz holidays. The exhibition will
continue until April 2, welcoming enthusiasts daily from 5:00 PM to 00:30 AM
local time.
One of the key attractions of the exhibition is its
family-friendly environment, ensuring a welcoming space for all age groups. The
fair has also arranged for Iftar tables, providing a communal space for visitors
to break their fast, thereby fostering a sense of community and shared
experience during this blessed month.
The fair showcases various Quranic institutions and
governmental bodies, along with international participants from 25 countries.
It also highlights the issues of Gaza and Palestine and the role of the Quran
in inspiring resistance.
The fair aims to familiarize people with Quranic concepts
through artistic, cultural, and theatrical mediums, especially targeting
children and teenagers. It also features sections on artificial intelligence,
Nahj al-Balaghah, Quranic research and consultation, Quran translation, and
easy Quran memorization.
