A memorization campaign along with posters and trailers of the 31st International Holy Quran Fair was unveiled in a ceremony in Tehran.
Held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, the ceremony was attended by Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili as well as head of the Ministry’s Quran and Etrat Department Shobeir Firouzian.
The Quranic event, which will start on March 20, places a strong emphasis on family, creating events that are not only educational for children but also foster family togetherness, Esmaeili told the gathering.
He said that the exhibition serves essentially as a gathering point for families to unite and engage with the teachings of the Quran.
“In our cultural and artistic endeavors, the family unit is our cornerstone, and by highlighting its importance, we reinforce the bonds of our community,” he added.
“Our commitment to the principles of the Quran guides us to fortify the family structure; this is why the upcoming exhibition is centered around the family, with a curated selection of events designed to celebrate and strengthen this fundamental social unit,” noted the minister, adding that one of the campaigns launched accordingly is “Hafez Sho” [become a memorizer].
Esmaeili noted that those attending the exhibition in Tehran can participate in the campaign in special dedicated sections while those living in other provinces can do so virtually through the campaign’s website and social media accounts.
Participants will be asked to memorize 14 short Quran Surahs from Juz 30, he said, adding that the campaign will continue throughout the year.
Also addressing the event, Firouzian provided a brief report about the measures taken so far for preparing the major event.
The 31st International Holy Quran Fair will be held from March 20 to April 2 at Tehran’s Mosalla.
The fair will feature various Quranic institutions and governmental bodies, as well as international participants from 25 countries. The event will also highlight the issues of Gaza and Palestine and the role of the Quran in inspiring resistance.
The fair will aim to familiarize people with Quranic concepts through artistic, cultural, and theatrical mediums, especially for children and teenagers. It will also offer sections on artificial intelligence, Nahj al-Balaghah, Quranic research and consultation, Quran translation, and easy Quran memorization.
The fair will also provide simple iftar meals for families, and showcase Iranian and Islamic clothing.
The motto of the fair is "I read you", which reflects the importance of reading the Quran. Addressing a press conference earlier in march, Firouzian said that the fair is a manifestation of the Islamic Republic's commitment to the Quran and its significance for the country and the world.
